Mr.Hien’s Bank and Company donate VND 4.5 billion to hospitals, increasing the level of donation for fighting against COVID-19 epidemic to over VND 20 billion

31-03-2020

In order to support the “front-line” forces in the peak period of fighting against COVID-19 epidemic, this morning (March 31), T&T Group and Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) of businessman Do Quang Hien has donated VND 3 billion to support the doctors and medical staff of Bach Mai Hospital. On the same day, Hanoi Football Club (Hanoi FC) and Mr. Do Vinh Quang, the new President of Hanoi FC has also donated VND 1.5 billion to the two front-line hospitals in the fight against COVID-19: VND 1 billion for the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases and VND 500 million for the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Previously, businesses related to Mr. Hien had donated VND 17 billion for the fight against COVID-19 epidemic. With this continuous support, businesses and family of Mr. Hien have donated more than VND 20 billion to support the fight against COVID-19 epidemic.

Bach Mai Hospital is the biggest treatment unit for the severe cases in the country and is currently the focus of the fight against COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology are the 2 units participating in the prevention, fighting and treatment of COVID-19. Doctors here have been trying to “stay in hospital” for many days, wholeheartedly for patients and for the community.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, the hospital is currently in very difficult situation in the context of quarantine, so it needs the support of the Ministry of Health, the Hanoi City authority and the community. Currently, 3,500 people in the hospital are unable to go out to buy personal items. Everything from the smallest items such as brush, toothpaste is provided by the hospital. However, despite difficulties, Bach Mai medical staff remains strong, wholeheartedly caring for the sick.

Sharing the difficulties of the leaders, doctors and medical staff, and at the same time wishing to support the “front-line” forces and joining hands to fight against the epidemic, on March 31, T&T Group and SHB Bank transferred VND 3 billion to support the doctors and medical staff of Bach Mai Hospital. These funds will be used immediately to support doctors with all necessary supplies during the peak period of the fight against epidemic and to provide them with delicious and nutritious meals so that they can renew energy for treatment and care for the sick the best possible.

Accompanying businessman Do Quang Hien, Hanoi FC and the new young President of this football club, Mr. Do Vinh Quang (the second son of Mr. Hien) also donated VND 1 billion to the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases, and VND 500 million to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Sharing on this gesture, Mr. Do Vinh Quang quoted the words of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam when calling the community to join hands with the front-line hospitals: “Supporting the doctors now is not only a sentimental attachment, but also a responsibility!”. And for Hanoi FC, the most important victory now is the victory of the Government and people of Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach, Director of the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases, Vietnam has had initial success when treating and isolating patients stably, but still facing many difficulties in the immediate future. Therefore, the support of businesses in the fight against the epidemic is extremely necessary and meaningful.

In the fight “against the epidemic as fighting against the enemy”, images of dedicated doctors and physicians always on duty around the clock for curing patients and at the same time providing psychological reassurance and encouragement to patients to prevent the spread of COVID-19  have touched millions of Vietnamese hearts. With their responsibilities, T&T Group and SHB Bank wish to contribute more resources to share difficulties and to contribute to the strength and confidence of doctors and medical staff – soldiers on the front line against the epidemic.

Previously, T&T Group and SHB Bank of businessman Do Quang Hien had donated VND 15 billion for the fight against COVID-19, including VND 10 billion through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and VND 5 billion for fighting against epidemic of Nghe An province. Two other businesses related to Mr. Hien also donated each VND 1 billion. Thus, up to now, the total amount of donation form from the businesses of Mr. Hien, Hanoi FC and his son has reached VND 21.5 billion.

At T&T Group and SHB Bank, the epidemic prevention has been widely and seriously implemented throughout the system. Each staff in the two units is identified as a solid “anti-epidemic fortress”, regularly updating information, strictly implementing the directions, regulations and recommendations of the Government, the Ministry of Health and authorities at all levels, implementing measures to protect themselves and the community. In the current peak period, businesses of businessman Do Quang Hien have also studied the application of working rotation solutions and working online from afar, etc. to ensure the requirements of social distancing, contributing effectively to the fight against the epidemic. Meanwhile, taking advantage of time off for fighting against the epidemic, many famous football players of Hanoi FC such as Quang Hai, Dinh Trong, Duy Manh, Duc Huy, Thanh Chung, etc. regularly via social network spread the optimistic messages as well as recommendations for fighting against COVID-19 to young people. Most recently, team leader Nguyen Van Quyet of Hanoi FC has called for a donation of VND 120 million to buy necessary medical equipment for the fight against epidemic of doctors and medical staff at the front-line against COVID-19.
