SHB contributes VND 5 billion for prevention and fighting against Covid-19

On March 19, 2020, in order to join the Government in the prevention and fighting against COVID-19 epidemic, Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) presented VND 5 billion for prevention and fighting against COVID-19 through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. In addition, T&T Group has also donated VND 5 billion and Saigon-Hanoi Insurance Corporation (BSH) supported VND 1 billion. Previously, SHB has implemented many programs to support customers affected by COVID-19.

Earlier, at the launching ceremony of the movement to support the prevention and fighting against COVID-19 epidemic organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized: “The country is facing very critical moment of the COVID-19 pandemic at global scale. Over the past 2 months, the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people have joined the campaign for epidemic prevention and fighting on an unprecedented scale”. At the same time, the Prime Minister urged that every citizen, especially businessmen, according to their capabilities, to contribute money, goods, energy, ideas, regardless of their age, status, class, including people living in distant countries, raising the spirit of solidarity and caring about others.

Receiving contribution from SHB, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man noted the timely response, sharing and support of SHB for the prevention and fighting against COVID-19: “On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, I would like to express sincere thanks to the support of SHB. We are committed to spending the donated amount for the right purpose, ensuring funding to the units taking care of people at this time.”

Ms. Ngo Thu Ha – Deputy CEO of SHB shared: “Facing with the complicated and unpredictable development of COVID-19 epidemic, promoting the spirit of solidarity and responsibility to the community, SHB decided to support VND 5 billion with the hope that together with the Government and the people of the whole country we will join in the prevention of epidemic as well as share the financial burden in the context that the Government of Vietnam exempts total hospital fees and testing and quarantine expenses for the infected people ”.

In addition to the direct support of VND 5 billion for the prevention and control of COVID-19, responding to the State Bank’s policy on the implementation of measures to overcome damages caused by COVID- 19 epidemic, SHB has reserved VND 3,000 billion to support businesses affected by the epidemic through various measures such as reducing interest rates up to 1.5% per year for loans in VND and 0.5% per year for loans in USD. SHB also exempts fee for repayment before maturity and 100% fee of online money transfer via e-banking, reschedules debt repayment while keeping the same debt group, etc.

Moreover, in order to protect customers from the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, SHB presented masks to transaction customers and disinfectant hand sanitizers to depositing customers, gave 100% premium of the first year of nCoV Shield insurance package of Saigon – Hanoi Insurance Corporation (BSH) with insurance benefits of up to VND 100 million to individual customers who deposit or borrow from VND 500 million.

Many promotion programs for online transaction customers are also implemented such as adding 0.4-0.5% of online savings interest rates, reducing fees, the opportunity to win savings books, preferential refund for 24/7 fast money transfer, online shopping refund … This helps both encourage customers to use online banking services and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 epidemic.
