Warning on fraudulent acts via fake website imitating SHB

18-02-2019

First of all, Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint stock Bank (SHB) would like to extend our warmest greetings and sincere thanks to our valued customers. We are very grateful for your trust in our services and your companionship with SHB over the time.

Currently, there have been several people taking advantage of SHB’s brand reputation to commit scams/fraudulent acts through fake websites.

The general method used by scammers is as follows: the victim may receive a message (via sms, email, or chat via facebook messenger, etc.) with a notice of prize winning or property distribution, offering to support with claim/declaration process, and requesting customers to click on links, websites provided by the scammer to claim or make a declaration.

When logging in to those fake websites and signing in for internet banking services, personal and account information of the victim shall be stolen and sent to hackers in order to commit illegal acts, such as: appropriating money from the balance amount of customer’s current account, settling payments for goods and services, or other illegal services, etc.

Recently, SHB has detected a case: a person named Faith Geren on facebook, who had a facebook chat with an SHB customer, proposed to share half of a big amount of money and requested the customer to log on to a fake website SHBplc.com in order to conduct fraudulent acts.

Therefore, customers need to be cautious with emails, text messages, calls on social networks with contents relating to money transfer, prize winning, property distribution, …. as mentioned above. SHB recommends that customers be wary of all requests to click on websites that require customers to provide personal information, internet banking services login code, card numbers (payment, credit, debit), CVV code…

In protection of customers’ rights, SHB recommends customers to only login to SHB bank accounts on SHB’s official domains as follows:
