Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) has increased by 25 ranks in the Top 1000 largest banks in the world in 2014 (Top 1000 World Banks 2014) by The Banker – a world leading reputational magazine in finance and banking.
Top 1000 World Banks ranking comprises the largest banks in the world based on all financial criteria in the most recent financial year, in which the leading criteria is Tier 1 capital. Each year, more than 4,000 banks all over the world participate in making contribution to this ranking, and this figure has an increasing trend.
Closing the financial year of 2013, Tier 1 capital of SHB was VND 9,117 billion (equivalent to USD 430 million) and total assets was VND 143,626 billion (equivalent to nearly $7 billion).
The increase by 25 ranks in the Top 1000 World Banks based on Tier 1 capital has confirmed business soundness and prudence of SHB in relations to compliance with the Basel guidelines on capital adequacy, as well as its large size and strong position not only in the region but also in the world. This will also assist SHB in reaching investment and business opportunities and cooperation with international partners and global financial institutions.
Earlier, in 2010 and in 2012, The Banker also judged SHB as the only bank in Vietnam to be awarded with “ Bank of the Year” awards.
